For the first time in a while I actually had enough time to invest in a recap video in order to do it the right way.
I spent about 5 hours picking the music.
About 3 hours with the 3D bubble video scene.
About 4 hours combined with the other scenes.
And there was an initial investment of about 4 hours spent on the content cut which got massaged along the way.
I really wanted to take people to the tention that was there between the Crowd, the Woman, and Jesus…The music also makes them feel that tension and takes people to the place where they can really experience it.
There is still a lot more that could be done with filters and transitions but all in all I’m really happy with how it turned out…
Typically at Northway we only make the message portion of our services available…however, in the case of our Christmas service we decided to produce the whole thing.
My team did a great job on this and I’m really excited about getting to watch a share the finished product in HD…
If you come by Northway you can also pick up a DVD copy in The Source.
The lights blinded white as the band breaks down to the crowd singing out to God “You are the everlasting God.”
This was the setting during the last song of our worship set this past weekend when….
No this wasn’t some technical mishap. This took planning and strategic creativity to pull off. Buddy followed by asking some tough questions…”If there were no lights, no music, no HD video screens, no coffee…Would you still come to Northway Church?” These things are all culturally relevant methods to help reach people for Christ’s kingdom, but the culture cannot eclipse the creator…Culture is just the vehicle…Christ is the brand.

We continually get requests for our resources at Northway, and from time to time, we think there is some stuff that people could use, and we want to get it out there.
See below for links to our resources for the series, “Hello, My Name is God.” It was an incredible series, and we hope these resources will benefit you. So, watch…spread the word…and enjoy!
I usually try to focus on producing the film side of our productions but this was one of my rare dabbles in After Effects. Kids rooms are great for chroma keying as one of them usually has a bright green wall. That tip is free…Maybe I’ll charge for the next one.
Let me know how your series goes!

Here’s the video we made for the service this past weekend…Shot it with 1/2 day of notice…I think it came out really well…I actually had a lot of good comments about it at church.
We shot one scene at our Northway Church Colonie location in front of the 3 screens using lots of blue back and fill light from an ARI kit I rented.
The other scene was actually the challenging one…First off, finding a place to shoot (good call by Brian Howe)…Ended up shooting at the Desmond in Albany (special thanks to Juan for hooking us up) where they have a lot of indoor trees. Combine that with a sweet green toned filter and I think we accomplished that jungle feel.
Devin Cremeans also made a great graphical transition scene illustrating the roots of bitterness as well as some great motion tracking using a new program we got called Mocha. We highly recommend it.
Went down to the Palace Theater last week and shot this video for the first week of our confessions of a pastor series. There is no substitute for seeing NC vids live in Multivision HD so if you’re in the area of upstate NY check out one of our 7 experiences at 3 locations. - Malta: 5:00pm, 6:30pm Saturday Nights…Sundays @ 10:00am, 11:30am in Malta and Clifton Park….Sundays @ 10:30 in Colonie. Went down to Atlantic City to shoot this video for Christmas. It’s about being lost and relating it to the story of the prodigal son…Started shooting around 9pm…Ended around 4am (lugging 100lbs of weights around Atlantic City with a camera crane is not something I recommend)
Over 3000 people viewed this over 9 services so the cold long hours of work paid off.
